About Us

Here at Niphos we strive to deliver the best possible replating service to all of disconcerning restorers, builders and customisers out there. We were established in 1966 by Ronald Wilcox who decided to go it alone after setting up the laborotries at Rolls Royce and Ford Motor company.

Niphos was primarily involved with engineering finishing, hard Chrome, zinc plate, phosphate and electroless nickel. Electroless nickel is a process that deposits an alloy of nickel and phosphorous, this is where our name came from 'Ni Phos', (a lot of people do wonder).

In 1984 Jonathan Wilcox joined Niphos, soon to be followed by brother Richard and Sister Jo-ann. A tradition that is perpetuated with the recent additions to the staff of two of Richards sons, Alistair and James.

The second and third generations of the family have gradually steered the business towards the specialist decorative plating market, which now commands 75% of our turnover.

All our staff are confirmed petrol heads and are actively involved in many restoration and custom projects of their own (see their staff profiles).
